PLWHA WA was established in 2005 as a peer to peer support group by a group of HIV positive people in 2005. PLWHA WA is a friendly independent peer to peer support group, run by members for members, for HIV+ people and their friends and family. PLWHA WA provide a safe, non-threatening, confidential, non-judgemental and supportive environment for the sharing of information and fellowship.
PLWHA WA aims to promote a positive image of People with HIV/AIDS, with the aim of eliminating stigma, prejudice, isolation and discrimination. In partnership with The HIV Consumer Alliance, PLWHA WA actively engages in health promotion activities to prevent the spread of HIV and safeguard the rights of PLHIV in Western Australia.
Positive people, their partners, friends and family (anyone who is infected or affected by HIV regardless of gender or sexual orientation) are all welcome. Membership is required to attend PLWHA WA social events.
Peer to Peer Social Events for PLWHA WA Members are held every month at varying venues in the Perth Metropolitan Area. PLHWA WA is not a sex or a sex contact group.
